Chloe Flanigan (she/her) is a practicing visual artist who tells the story of the death of small farms in a world of mass industrialization in agriculture. Growing up on a small fifth-generation family farm in southern Illinois, she draws on themes of grief, containment, memory, seasons, and the cycle of life and death.  The soil, sand, straw, and roots become the surface of the painting, just as the soil is the surface of her home.
Flanigan lives and works in Boston, Massachusetts, and is a current MFA Painting Candidate at Boston University. She received her MA from Eastern Illinois University in 2025 and her BFA from Eastern Illinois University in 2024. She is the recipient of several residencies and awards, including the New York Academy of Art Summer Residency and the Blick Purchase Award.
She has presented works nationally at institutions such as the Metcalf Trustee Center Portrait Gallery, New York Academy of Art, Tarble Museum of Art, Art Saint Louis, and Cedarhurst Center for the Arts. Her work is held in the permanent collection of the Galesburg Community Arts Center and also in private collections in the USA and Canada.
